John’s Party

We had a party at a friend’s house for my friend John’s birthday. It’s been pretty hectic in my photography business and all of my side projects have been put to the side in place of current jobs. I experimented with multi-pop flash and shutter drag. The great thing about not getting paid for a shoot is that I can do whatever I want and shoot anything any way I want. And if it doesn’t come out who cares. It’s my experiment.

The process is part of the outcome. Michelle Oleary is a skateboarder, one of the most dedicated that I know. But she is also a painter. She paints amazing graphics on skateboards that leave everyone asking, “did you really do this?” I am not a painter but I was inspired by her work to at least create something of my own. Here is a time lapse of the whole thing. 3 hours compressed into just over 2 minutes.
