We started this event in March of 2008. This event is at Dallas park in La Mesa on the third Saturday of every other month from 10-5. We bring boxes and rails to a flat concrete arena inside the park. HesH SesH is featured on the blog, myspace and word of mouth. The park is in a spot that a lot of skaters pass by during the day and come by. Additionally we do a barbecue and a best trick contest. First and second place get a deck or t-shirt. The kids love it. That’s what I want to use the boards for. I also want to pass several out to kids that are ripping.
The event was originally created to bring back the mount miguel church crew. No, it’s not a christian thing. A group of us growing up skated at the mount miguel church in spring valley. The pastor of the church let us bring boxes and rails on the basketball court and skate it everyday. It was a place where we all skated everyday. A lot of memories were made there. We all made friends there and had a place to hang out. The pastor decided it wasn’t bringing in enough kids to the church so he shut it down. Over the years we have all gone our separate ways and work full time jobs. This event was created to give us a time and place to plan on getting together again and give the kids a place to come and skate like what we had.
It has slowly built up speed and is still gaining strength. Skate pride.
